Preparation

Before Your Hunt

Before your hunt, contact me for any instructions if you’re not sure how to best preserve the animal during the first few hours or days before you can get it to me.

If you want to skin the animal yourself, contact me for instructions prior to your hunt.  How you skin the animal is very important to the finished product.

Orders for animals from outside the US will require special handling.  Call me for details before your hunt.

Immediate Preparation

The path to a successful mount begins in the field.  It is crucial to preserve your trophy correctly from the very beginning, as even the best trophies can be spoiled due to heat or improper handling.

For example, fish should be frozen in a wet towel or plastic bag.  Birds, on the other hand, should be placed inside a nylon stocking before being frozen intact in a plastic bag.  When in doubt with anything else, freeze it intact in a plastic bag.  If the animal is too big to freeze, call me for instructions.

There is no charge for skinning, and I will save the meat and return it to you.  If you want to skin it yourself, contact me for instructions prior to your hunt.  How you skin the animal is very important to the finished product.

Your Hunting License

You must bring your hunting license with you when you drop off your trophy.  This is required by law and I cannot accept work without it.
